In the email, Mark Epstein asked his brother to find out from former Trump adviser Steve Bannon whether Russian President Vladimir Putin possessed compromising information about Donald Trump. The message also included a reference to “photos of Trump blowing Bubba,” a phrase that quickly spread across social media and prompted widespread speculation because “Bubba” is a nickname commonly associated with former President Bill Clinton.

As the rumors intensified, Mark Epstein publicly addressed the email, saying the reference to “Bubba” was not about Bill Clinton. He explained that the exchange was a private conversation between brothers, intended as a joke, and emphasized that it was never meant to be made public or interpreted as a factual allegation.

The renewed attention to the Epstein files follows criticism over how the documents were released. Vice President JD Vance later acknowledged that officials had mishandled the communication surrounding the release, saying they had “screwed up” the messaging while denying there was any attempt to hide information.
